Unit Planning

We believe that effective curriculum design evolves backward from clear goals to acceptable assessment evidences to engaging and effective instruction. Our teachers begin their unit planning with clear goals – the performances we want students to master. These clear goals or desired results consist of PA Common Core Standards, transfer goals, enduring understandings, essential questions, knowledge and skills.

From clear goals, assessment evidences are developed to make sure student are reaching the desired results. Finally, a learning plan is developed to help students grasp the knowledge, skills, and understandings needed to reach the desired results. We use a modified version of the Understanding by Design 2.0 Template developed by Grant Wiggins and Jay McTighe.
